What does it Cost to get Started?

To get started with stud stock (able to be registered with both the Australian Hereford Association and the Australian Miniature Hereford Cattle Association) you can pay up to $20,000 for a heifer and up to $10,000 for a bull calf.

We have capped our best stud heifers at $20,000 and stud bulls at $8,000. This is no more than you pay for quality full sized stud beef cattle and you also need to consider the value of your offspring. It is possible to flush up to 10 embryos from a heifer in one flushing; embryos sell for up to $2,500 each, or simply go the natural birthing way and you could produce a stud calf worth around $20,000.

To get started with first cross miniature Herefords (still able to be registered with the Australian Hereford Association) you need only pay $1,100 for a bull calf or $2,000 for a heifer calf.

Remember you don’t need to buy a heifer and bull to have a breeding pair; if you buy a heifer we can supply fully imported pure miniature Hereford semen for $135 per straw.
